3i Group storms ahead on FTSE 100 as investment proves robust - Spread Betting News
Spread betting provider City Index (http://www.cityindex.co.uk/) takes a look at the financial activity shaping the markets on 12th May 2011.
While FTSE 100 miners are some of the biggest fallers this morning (May 12th), 3i Group has enjoyed a share prices boost.
The organisation is the biggest riser on London's premier stock index after it announced its preliminary results for the year to March 31st 2011.
Investment increased from £386 million in 2010 to £719 million in 2011, while a total return of £324 million was seen, a decline from the previous year's £407 million.
A dividend increase of 20 per cent was also noted and chief executive of 3i Michael Green said he expects further growth to be witnessed.
Meanwhile, chairman Sir Adrian Montague stated: "Increased momentum in the private equity business, further good progress in infrastructure and a significant acquisition in debt management meant that the financial year to [March 31st] 2011 was both active and productive for 3i."
As of 10:15 BST, 3i was trading up by 6.26 per cent, well ahead of the 2.30 per cent of the FTSE 100's second-biggest riser, Scottish and Southern Energy.
